Hilstad barne-og ungdomsskole
Nestled in the picturesque Velfjord within Brønnøy municipality, the Hilstad Children’s and Youth School stands proudly as a relatively new institution, with its latest extension dating back to 2005. As of the 2022-2023 school year, our school hosts 94 students and a team of 14 dedicated staff members. It’s heartening to witness the growing number of families choosing our quaint yet sprawling village as their new home.
Our mission revolves around cultivating a secure and enriching learning environment that fosters competence and growth. Key areas of our focus include ensuring a safe and nurturing school atmosphere, enhancing our outdoor spaces, promoting health through physically active learning, engaging in international ventures such as Erasmus, nurturing student democracy and participation. We actively participate in Student Organization initiatives, Operation Dagsverk, and this year, we’ve embarked on the journey of Young Entrepreneurship.
We aspire to be not just a school within the village, but an integral part of it. To achieve this, we collaborate closely with the Hilstad sports club, Velfjord history team, Hommelstø welfare association, and Helgeland museum. In Velfjord, we boast a rich heritage of outdoor schooling. The surrounding natural landscape offers a tapestry of versatile and stunning vistas, complemented by our modern facilities catering to sports, activities, and outdoor life. Our proximity to the Lomsdal-Visten National Park adds another layer of adventure, with trips scheduled every three years. Together, we strive to make learning an immersive and unforgettable experience.
